LT I Central NH, History/Social Studies Day, Tuesday, November 13, 8-3pm, NH Political Library

Hi everyone,

Our first session day is History/Social Studies Day hosted by the NH Political Library. As you know, we are meeting in the Reading Room at the NH State Library which is located at 20 Park Street in Concord NH. (The url for the State Library is: www.nh.gov/nhsl ) (See Directions Below)

Arrival is from 7:45-8:00am and the session will run from 8-3pm. I am attaching our agenda for the day and, as you can see, we have a full day so please arrive early and give yourselves enough time to park (see information about parking below) and walk to the library! I encourage you to car pool if possible.

Also, wear comfortable walking shoes as we will be touring through two buildings. We will also be walking outside to move from one building to another so please bring a warm jacket if need be.

Remember to bring your LT badges, a pen, and your journals. You can bring your brief case if you like for organizational purposes or you can leave it at home and put any materials you collect into it later.

Signed up to do the Teacher’s Toolbox are: Jeff, Emily and Lisa
Signed up to do the Educational Article Sharing are: Emily, Trisha, and Whitney.
Remember to bring 25 copies of your toolbox and/or articles to share with everyone. If you have any questions about putting your toolbox online please email me or call me for assistance!

There will be coffee and muffins in the morning and lunch will be provided. Water will be available during the day as well.

See you all on Tuesday!

Elizabeth
Cell: 603-491-8876

Directions to the State Library:

From 93:
Take Exit 14
Turn onto Loudon Road towards N. Main Street and downtown Concord
Turn left onto N. Main Street
Turn next right onto Park Street
The State Library will be on your right on the corner of S. State and Park St.

Parking:
Unfortunately the State Library has no parking, so we have to:

1) Find Street Parking—the parking around the library is metered and you can only park there for 2-4 hours. Instead for unlimited, non-metered parking, park on Union Street or above (west of the library—use mapquest to find Union Street if you don’t know where it is) and you will then walk a couple of blocks back to the library.

2) Park in one of two metered garages (one on S. State Street two blocks south of the Library and one on Storrs Street behind the new Red Rivers Theater). Depending on when you arrive you may not be able to find parking at the S. State Street garage. Remember to bring quarters!

3) Park in the Storrs Street open lot by Marshalls and walk up to the Library (about a 10 minute walk, but it’s free parking). To find Storrs street from 93, take Exit 14 and turn towards N. Main Street and downtown Concord. Turn Right onto N. Main Street. Take your next right, just past the hotel and you will loop around under 93. You will see Marshalls and the open parking lot on your left. Park there and then walk up to Main Street Concord to Park Street. (Again, print directions from mapquest if you are not sure how to walk from Storrs to Park Street.)
